Synopsis
For the honor of a king. And the destiny of a country. All for one.
Years have passed since the Three Musketeers, Aramis, Athos and Porthos, have fought together with their friend, D'Artagnan. But with the tyrannical King Louis using his power to wreak havoc in the kingdom while his twin brother, Philippe, remains imprisoned, the Musketeers reunite to abduct Louis and replace him with Philippe.

There are people who would never renounce to the idea that there's such a thing like a bad film in Leo filmography; many, on the other hand, will swear that The Beach is that bad movie - but the truth is this one is the stinker.
Don't get me wrong, this movie rests in the shoulder of DiCaprio and he delivers by twice. As a young talent, he was given the task usually much older people are provided and pull it out off the park, but thats not too much to say when the rest of the team was pretty lackluster. His charm but also his douchebag attitude is both performed in such a great manner.
The premise is interesting,…

Stunningly, inexcusably inert. Laughably half-assed. The creative nadir for a host of acting icons, including Jeremy Irons who is positively hypnotized to sleepwalk through this movie like a cadaver in a wig. Gabriel Byrne is on life support, begging to be stabbed and carried off the set. Unfortunately for him, that comes at the very end of the film after we have to endure two hours of him painfully gritting his teeth and mumble emotion. Malkovich is at his absolute shtickiest, the boiled-down cliche of his persona presented on a moldy, bronze platter. Gerard Depardieu, I have no freaking clue what he's doing. He farts a lot and then steps in horse shit in the cringiest attempts at comic relief.…

More of a drama than a swashbuckler! I do believe the transition from point A to point B could have gone smoother but nonetheless it was a good film that could have been great if it had more humor, action and adventure!
Porthos (Gérard Depardieu) was the only character whom maintained the lively adventurous swashbuckler spirit!
Still in all I found it very entertaining with it's stellar All Star Cast!

Review by Blake Bergman "Various Spaghetti" ★★★½ 2
"The Man in the Iron Mask" is a 1998 action-adventure film directed by Randall Wallace. Following right on the tail end of "Titanic" (1997), "The Man in the Iron Mask" easily came about in my 90's youth where all the girls were swooning over Leo DiCaprio. Being a 14-year-old at the time, laughably the temperature tone of my annoyance for the "Oh, Leo!" movement that every girl around me was going through overrode any action/adventure element that this film had to display. "Gangs of New York" (2002) eventually came along and checked boxes for making Leo cool in general form. After all, in "Gangs" he was a "Dead Rabbit" and fought Daniel Day Lewis who was wielding a butcher knife…

Review by gregs1999 ★★½ 1
The main thing the film has going for it is that it’s Musketeers story I haven’t seen before. I’m sure this has been before and since, but it hasn’t come across me. John Malkovich really said no to doing a French accent and spoke normally. Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t bother with it either. I did keep on losing interest, and the action brought me back into focus now and again.

This is for Leo what The King is for Timothée Chalamet—a right of passage one could argue…

leo dicaprio spends half of this movie with long, wispy blonde hair and dainty slippers with little pom-poms, and the other half with a big metal gimp mask covering his entire head---so why is he still hot to me ):
