I have a 2012 LPJr in Gloss Yellow. On the Gibson webpage it is referred to as gloss yellow or TV yellow. I always thought the original TV yallow was a more washed out look. No matter. http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Jr.aspx
I'd love an SG in yellow - gloss or satin
Oh I agree bro. Nothing like the original examples that exist today. Even when new I doubt the old TV Yellow Jr's had the depth & hue of todays TV Yellow / Gloss Yellow (which Gibson uses interchangeably at will). My Satin was a little less 'colored' but still nothing like the originals.
Still, like you, I still like the overall look.
Truth be told, I like it a lot actually.

The special in the pic below is a little paler. Pic comes from Gibsons Faceache page back in September. I was hoping it would indicate an original spec P90 Special in the 2016 product range but no.
Then I found this on a Japanese website (Ishibashi music) a VOS version that I assume is Japan only. Unfortunately every time I tried to use the translate button it would scrub my SG search and take me back to the home page in English. After several tries I ended up having several beers :-)
I guess there must be some marketing reason for it, but I can't understand why the country specific models.

Post up the link & I'll see if it translates for me or not. If so I'll repost the page for ya.

Thanks Relic61. Since I last looked a couple of months ago they have added a pre-owned section to their website which seems to work fine (they won't ship anything new internationally). http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/ Just hit the link and do a key word search for Gibson SG. The Ivory VOS P90 Special is now 130k yen to an overseas buyer which works out to around $1100 US. I don't know how this compares with what a similar guitar would be worth on the US market, but that doesn't seem TOO bad.

I'm seeing $140,000 yen sale price but that not all I'm seeing...
LOOK AT THAT!! NIBS!! Holy $#!T !!
Oh there's your price! I see whats going on now.
No wonder you needed a beer after trying to navigate through this stuff man! Yikes!
Over all there is not much info on the page to translate!
The price?? Well it is a VOS but you could find a genuine American Gibson Special for less. But a VOS Gibby in comparison is gonna cost you!
Oh, FYI..
American VOS has no Nibs!
The one you found in Japan is definitely hard to locate here in a Gibson at a better price given your criteria.
So are you stuck on the color & pickguard style as much as the P-90's? If so, that VOS Greco is currently hard to beat, as long as you got no issues playing on plastic fret Nibs.

No. Not particularly stuck on that configuration. I have an Epi 61 P90 and its a great guitar. Would like a Gibson version one day but its on the nice to have not must have list. I've seen a special faded yellow with HBs and a batwing pick guard which would fit the bill, but the guitar account has just taken a hit on something else so I won't be getting another one any time soon.....
Re the Ivory VOS It would seem a good buy and it doesn't come up in the search now so maybe someone has grabbed it :-) The VOS is not what originally led me to the website (it was a Cherry Jr 60s) but at the time their site didn't seem to be functioning correctly and an email response confirmed that they couldn't do an international sale then, so I didn't pursue any further. I've since purchased elsewhere but its yet to arrive. Do you really think its a Greco or was that a typo?

Nibs are the fret ends finishing technique that uses shaped plastic binding instead of tapering a metal fret end to form the smooth finished end of the fret.
Gibson always had some shape to the binding around the fret end but by the 1990's the neck binding had gotten thicker & this caused a problem for the metal fret ends. They either needed to have the tang (back of fret that goes into the fretboard) be under-cut so the top of the fret laid OVER the neck binding (the ideal way) or cut the fret straight through right where it meets the plastic neck binding and shape the binding like the fret (which meant meeting the shape of the fret at it height & width and tapper the plastic "Nib" to a smooth level edge, sometimes we don't get the smooth level edge part either).
I have a close up pic of another guitar that shows the Nib & the problems it producers for the serious player.
Above you can clearly see the plastic Nib cut the same height & thickness as the metal fret. You can also see the gap that is developing between the two! This was simply Gibsons way of making cheaper bound guitars. Because the binding was thicker it mean less Rosewood & because plastic was easier the shape & tapper than the metal fret (which required more tools & more time to do right).
Here is a pic that clearly show the difference between Nib & no Nib.
Early on Gibson used thinner binding & lower fret that were gently tapered right to the edge of the fretboard. (as seen on this 52''Fretless Wonder' below)_
Small Tapered Fret meets small thin low profile Nib! No Problem!
As Gibson low profile Fretless Wonder frets gave way to higher profile Jumbo's & the like & the binding got thicker as the Rosewood got thinner we have Nibs rising up to untapered fret plane height & replacing tapered metal fret ends, like seen on my 2004 SG Standard below.
So lets go back & look at the Greco model being considered being ordered from Japan!
Once ya know what yer lookin fer they just scream atcha dont they?? LOL
Now lets look at the expensive American VOS.
Alrighty then. My job is done here. Time to smoke some frets of my own before band practice.
Rock On.

There's one for sale here in Argentina, the owner changed the 57 Classics for Duncans. He asks 45000 pesos, that's $3000. It must be the only one here.
I almost bougth it as new in 2011, but I finally bought a Bullion Gold Standard Exclusive.

$3,000? I would rather buy one from eBay and have it shipped from US, which I did.

Why can't you just say something like 'Nice Guitar!' & 'Congratulations!' ??
Not Every guitar has to conform to your idea of what a guitar should be 'perfect' & to infer such on a new guitar post is nothing short of insulting & rude. Never mind, unnecessary, just like most of your posts.
Some self-awareness & etiquette seems in order. And maybe work on sentence structure & spell check too. You read like a 2nd grader is posting.
Nice Guitar donshin!
Pardon my being a prick & schooling 'da kid' on your thread. Somebody's got to fer crissakes geeze
But truly, it is a beauty of a guitar. Enjoy & Rock On bruddah!
